COLLEGE BASEBALL RECRUITING

BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIPS

How to get recruited and play college baseball.

High school baseball players and their parents dream of being recruited and playing baseball at the college level. In order to make this dream a reality, you need to not only be a great player but also take important steps to get recruited. These steps include creating a recruiting profile and getting strong grades.

Each NCAA division I college baseball program can only allocate 11.7 baseball scholarships per program. Most college baseball coaches award partial or “equivalency” grants in aid, and it is very rare to be offered a full-ride scholarship. The NCAA has mandated a roster limit of 35 players, and each baseball scholarship player must receive the equivalent of no less than 25% of the value of a full-ride scholarship.

Create a FREE Recruiting Profile.

College Baseball Recruiting is very competitive. This is where we come in - BeRecruited can dramatically improve your chances of getting recruited. We can connect you with over 25,000 college coaches and help to maximize your exposure and opportunities. Registration is quick and easy and your baseball profile will be in the hands of the people that count: college baseball coaches.

NCAA.

There are 294 division I colleges that offer baseball as a NCAA sanctioned sport and 9,975 registered players. 262 division II schools and 368 division III schools also offer baseball as a sport. There are no baseball scholarships offered at the D3 level, but there are 9 scholarships available at the D2 level.

NAIA

There are 208 colleges that play baseball at the NAIA level. 12 scholarships are allowed per team. These are also “equivalency” grants so the scholarships can be shared among multiple players.

NJCAA.

JUCO schools are permitted to offer up to 24 scholarships per program. Junior/Community colleges can only grant 24 scholarships in total, which are either full-ride or partial.

Things you can do to boost your chances of getting recruited.

1. Create your FREE recruiting profile.

2. Get good grades.

The emphasis on college academics by the NCAA and NAIA means that your skill on the baseball field is not going to be enough to get you recruited.

3. Consider joining a baseball travel team.

These teams have recorded explosive growth over the last few years and can offer both a rewarding experience and the edge you need with coaches.

4. Baseball Camps.

Attend baseball showcases and camps. Camps are offered by individual colleges, which is a great way to meet the coach of the college of your choice. They are also offered by sporting organizations and leagues. In most instances, baseball camps offer intensive instruction. College baseball coaches, baseball scouts, and recruiters attend these showcases and it is one of the best opportunities for you to be scouted and increase your exposure. Baseball camps and showcases can either be for-profit or not-for-profit. Be sure to do your research before investing time, energy, and money into a camp that does not have a baseball scout or representative from the schools you’re interested in.

Live your dream and remember that if you want to be a good ball player you must spend the time practicing and listening to your coaches. Play hard, practice, and above all study! Without the investment of time and commitment, your chances of getting recruited for college baseball dramatically decrease.
