Rowing Additional

Rowing During Covid, 2020 =

Spring, 2020/After Covid shut down in Mid-March: (On-line workouts/mostly on erg/core circuit workouts)
Summer, 2020 (Online/Learning to scull in our new singles on the lake in Orinda)
Fall, 2020 (September: Still in our singles, moved to Oakland Estuary/Bay)

Learning to row in singles during the Covid shut down (Summer session and now the Fall of 2020)
It's fun, but I sure do miss being together in our 8's with our Coxswain leading the way.

I can't wait till normal practice resumes in California, but in the meantime I am truly thankful to have rowing practice everyday.
Thank you Oakland Strokes Coaches for the outdoor rowing/workout everyday.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Rowing has helped me be more focused, grounded, organized and disciplined in a way I hadn't understood before. I have also found a family/community of other like minded friends/athletes that are competitive, but also very kind, caring people to/for each other and that's important to me. We do for ourselves, but we do for each other too, we help each other out when in need, we cheer each other on when someones sore, or achieving something they've been trying for, it's nice when your teammates (and coaches) care about winning, are competitive, but realize we're a team and winning comes when we all work really hard everyday individually and together to make our team fun, safe and strong.

Being in crew (Oakland Strokes) it's like having an extension to my family, we work together like a family. I love being on the water, I like having practice, I like pushing myself and achieving new goals, I like seeing my teammates, coaches, being together and it's done a lot for me in high school (academically, socially, emotionally and at home) and I'm going to work hard as an athlete recruit to make that part of my college experience.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
-
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
-
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Community service is very important to me and is part of my everyday life. I was in Girl Scouts for 9 years which was a great source and foundation of many community outreach programs I enjoy to this day. I've also been a 4-H/Grange member for the past 10 years till present, we perform a lot of community services for the elderly, youth, disabled friends programs, environment, our community and especially with animals (dogs, pets, rescue, as well as farm animal care) and numerous other project).

I recently received my 'Gold' award certificate from the President of the United State (Points of Light-Volunteer Service Award) year 2020, and have earned this award since I was in 8th grade which takes several hundred hours per year of community service to achieve. I am working on my 2021 award presently, due to the Covid shut down I have provided more community service then in past years as the needs of our elderly neighbors have been in great demand on my street and in my neighborhood (shopping, errands, etc) since they couldn't leave their homes for such a long period of time. I also volunteer at our local Benicia Community Action Center twice a week since March (computer work, spreadsheets, meals on wheels program, put bags of food together for families to pick up if they need extra help with their groceries, etc). The other issues we've had in California is out of control fires, many close to my town and many in Solano and Napa Counties. We've (my club) have helped the families and/or animal care while the owners are unable, due to the loss of their homes, farms and ranches.
