High School All American 2019
In addition to diving, I am on my high school Track team (placed 2nd at the Independent School League meet in the Triple Jump) and I am on the Squash team. Next fall I plan to be on the Cross Country team.
I love being part of a team! One of the best things about diving for me, is being on a team with other athletes who not only want to better themselves but also support and encourage me to do my best too. My goal, since the age of ten, has been to be recruited to dive at a college where I can excel in the classroom and on the diving board. It is equally important that I dive for a college team that has a lot of positive energy, good sportsmanship, and school spirit.
I have been diving for over five years and am considered one of the team leaders. Because our team practices are only an hour and a half long, we have to be efficient and get in all our dives. As a leader on the team, I always make sure to encourage those divers who are having trouble doing a particular dive. I make sure to interact with the newer divers too so that they feel welcome and are not intimidated or selfconscious on the board.
Outside of the pool, I think I possess natural leadership skills and am considering running for class president if my schedule allows. I can be outspoken and will not hesitate to stand up to people who are unkind to myself or others.
Like a lot of other student-athletes, I am challenged daily to make good nutritional choices. This can be hard and on occasion, I will have that brownie, but for the most part, I try to balance what I eat with what I am doing that day. My high school requires me to do a sport each semester. I have to be sure to eat enough food to get me through my dive practices which are at night. Unfortunately, my High School does not have a dive team so diving is often done after school sports. It's tiring but I have managed to make it work.
Due to my long school week(6 days per week) and diving, it is challenging for me to participate in community activities but I am very active in my local Parish.
