Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I would love to play soccer at a school where I can be academically challenged and pursue my interests in a career in the sciences. I am particularly interested in public health, math, and chemistry and potentially, becoming an aviator pilot I hope that my soccer skills can help me to get into my strong academic college and allow me to continue my career as a goalkeeper.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a goalkeeper on the field, I enjoy leading my team by being their "eyes in the back of their head." I can prevent plays from developing by telling players where to cover before there is a threat on goal. Off the field, I enjoy leading by helping younger karate athletes with their forms and kata. I am a well-decorated 2nd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and have been practicing nearly 10 years, so I am able to help them to develop their skills as well.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

For me, healthy athletic performance requires making sure that I get good grades, get the sleep I need, and occasionally take breaks from soccer by doing other things I enjoy, such as participating in Varsity track, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, strength and conditioning training, and reading. I also enjoy nutrition and cooking. It is important as an athlete, to have the right balance of energy and muscle-building protein in my diet. My mom and I often cook healthy meals together. One of my favorites is Moroccan chicken loaded with chickpeas and carrots, made in the pressure cooker and served with couscous.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been a Girl Scout for 11 years since I was in kindergarten. I am currently pursuing my Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the most prestigious award in Girl Scouts. My service project for my gold award is creating resources to teach others about self defense. This project is something I am very familiar with as I have my 2nd degree black belt in Tang So Doo, so I thought it would be invaluable to share my expertise in this area with others so they know how to protect themselves as well. Additionally, I also enjoy helping out at our local food pantry, The Daily Bread, with my mom. I really enjoy volunteering and spending time with friends while helping others. It is very rewarding to me to be able to help others within my community.
