Personal Highlights

I was a competitive gymnast for 10 years before I started diving in 2017. I won multiple state and regional championship titles while in gymnastics. I am an active member of National Honors Society, and I am always volunteering in my community. I work hard to succeed academically and athletically.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Being a part of a team has always been a huge part of my life. I want to dive in college because, I want to continue to not only be a part of a team, but to improve as an athlete. I am not happy with myself until I know I have reached my potential whether that be on an essay I'm writing or a dive I am learning, I strive for excellence, and I know that being on a college team will help me to grow as an individual.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Both in the pool and outside, I strive to be a leader for others. I do this by setting an example. Recently I have taken on the job of instructing middle school after school care. I help the students with homework and play games with them. Everyday I am with them I do my best to show them that they are capable of anything they put their mind to. At practice I am one of the older divers, so I am always motivating my teammates and setting an example. Especially with the little ones I find it important to talk to them and interact so that they know they are as much a part of this team as every other diver there.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student athlete I balance more things than the average person my age. I manage taking AP and honor classes while maintaining good grades, having a part time job, constantly volunteering in my community, and on top of it all spending a good portion of my day at the pool working hard to improve. I believe that I am able to do this because of my ability to manage my time well and make good decisions.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am always going out of my way to help those within my community any way I can. These last two years I took on the task of designing and building adaptive seating for handicapped children at both Haynes Inman and Gateway Education Center after shadowing occupational therapist Janina Boyce and learning about the need. She explained to me how the government funds didn't allow seating that worked for all of the children there and this was impacting their ability to learn. I was moved to make a difference after she told me this, so I worked to organize an event with Home Depot to build the adaptive seating we designed. It was a success and over 40 were delivered to the schools.
