Personal Highlights

I train mainly alone in very rural Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I am looking forward to have a team to train with, good facilities to train in, and being a good team mate.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I am very passionate about swimming and being a necessary part of a swimming program. I like to train hard with my teammates to accomplish goals in the pool. As I am from a small, rural area, I dream that my college team will be able to train me for the Olympic Trials if not the Olympics themselves.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a freshman on my high school Varsity swimming team, I was given the honor of Most Valuable Player. My coach said this was not only due to my high point earning, but by being a role model and leader in the pool on a daily basis. I helped lead my teammates through a lot of rough sets. In the classroom, I am frequently assisting my peers and am told I am also a role model in the classroom because I work hard and get all of my work done. On my club swim team, I volunteer to help teach the new and young swimmers proper stroke technique.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student-athlete, I know that my job is to first be a student, then be an athlete. I plan my day to dedicate my time to both being a student and an athlete. Most of my day is scheduled so that I can perform my best in both areas. This includes, but is not limited to: eating healthy, getting enough sleep, having good friendships, training hard, attending all classes and completing my learning, and avoiding negative influences.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

My small community has rallied behind me to support my swimming. Helping out where I can is just one way that I can give back. I have done little things like volunteer at the "Feeding America" events in our community, mowing lawns for the elderly, coaching basketball and swimming, and helping at various events at my church.
