Baseball Factory 2021 Preseason All American.

Willamette University commit.

Perfect Game’s No. 5 overall performer at 2019 WWBA West Championships, batting .500 (10 for 20) with an event second-best 11 RBIs. Team made it to semifinals.

Two-year Varsity starter at Carlsbad High.

In November of 2019, named Baseball Factory Class of 2021 preseason All-American for the third straight year.

Batted .448 as a freshman at Carlsbad High School as an outfielder/catcher, leading the team in every offensive category: In 22 games, had 22 RBIs, 7 doubles, 2 triples,1 home run, a .590 on base percentage and 1.280 OPS. Twice had game-winning RBIs against league champion La Costa Canyon. Named Offensive MVP.

In Summer of 2018, he led BPA's 16u team at the USA Baseball Team Championships West with a .500 batting average. Throws 85 mph from the outfield.

Is being recruited by Wofford, George Washington, University of San Diego, Georgetown, Arizona State, Cal State Northridge, Pepperdine, University of San Francisco, UC Irvine, UC Davis, Chapman, LaVerne, Whittier College, UCSD and Asuza Pacific.

Competed in USA Baseball Team Championships in 2017 and 2016, batting .390. Batted .400 at 2017 Arizona Fall Classic....

Personal: Was the Little League catcher for Vanderbilt 2019 commit and likely MLB draft pick Spencer Jones, who was already throwing 80 mph from 46 feet at the time, the equivalent of a 100 mph fastball...League umpires called Cole the toughest" player in league for catching all of Jones 50 innings in 2014.

His father is former ESPN Sportswriter/broadcaster Tom Friend, who authored the best-selling baseball book, "The Chicken Runs at Midnight.''

Youth baseball notes: Named an AAU "outstanding" athlete for 2016...Game clinching bases loaded triple put his travel team in SoCal AAU 14u World Series championship game, which they won...Pitched 10 innings in that World Series, surrendering only 1 earned run....
