Since moving to full sided, 11 v. 11 play, my coach rarely removes me from game. Instead, I switch from outside midfield, to holding midfield, or fullback. |

I love a challenge and I love pushing myself to compete. I have committed and dedicated myself to soccer since I was four years old and every time I have encountered what I thought was an obstacle, I have worked hard and worked through any difficulty. I want to play at the next level. I want to be an example to others that with hard work, your dreams can come true.
Having served as captain of my soccer team for the last several years I am the leader of my team. But I have been taught to lead by example and that actions speak louder than words. Therefore, I arrive to practice early, I stay late, and I put in extra time to work on my touch. My high school coach challenged me last summer to take one thousand touches each day. I have accepted that challenge and work hard to keep my foot on the ball, every single day.
To me, a healthy athletic performance is not only eating well, getting enough sleep, and taking care of your body, but it is also keeping a balance in your life. My love and dedication to this sport come first, but if I do not keep balance, with my family, my studies, and my love of soccer, I won't be of any use to anyone, on or off the field. Because of this, I have worked hard to spend time with my family, volunteer training younger, elementary soccer players in my club, focus on my academic studies, and make time to keep my foot on the ball.
I come from a family of service-oriented people. My mother is a member of Rotary and my Dad is a high school basketball coach and special education teacher. I think it's because of those role models that I have dedicated my free time to service oriented projects. Through National Junior Honor Society we have undertaken several service projects in my school. But I have also been involved in volunteering with Cub Scout Pack 268, helping young cub scouts in campouts and meetings; I have also volunteered with young, elementary age soccer players, just starting out, helping with their training. I have also started the planning for a school supply drive in my local school district--to solicit and take donations for school supplies for those in need. In the holiday season I have also worked with Toys for Tots, collecting toys for underprivileged children, and I have led my brother's Cub Scout den in making and sending Christmas and Valentine's Cards to children spending the holidays in the hospital. Speaking from experience, there is nothing worse than being stuck in the hospital, much less spending the holidays there. So I have worked with Cub Scout Pack 268, in Deer Park, to make and send cards to children spending the holidays at Texas Children's Hospital.
