Freshman: (Worked hard/made the varsity squad and started every game)
2015 Starter on the High School Varsity Team as a Freshman. Was named a member of the Indiana State team for ODP in 2014. Attended the Notre Dame soccer camp for two consecutive years. Went to the Super Y Summer League National Tournament in Bradenton, Florida in 2013.
On the field, I was displayed as a leader because of the situation I was put in. I was only a freshman starting on the varsity soccer team, and the only freshman to be exact. Despite my age, that didn't hold me back, as I worked hard no matter what. Off the field, when I'm not playing, I of course tutoring younger students, but I also help mentor young soccer players as well. I'm ranked fifth in my class for academics as well. I run a very busy schedule with volunteering, tutoring, soccer, school, and the 10 clubs I partake in.
Well of course, I during both the regular season and off-season, I do whatever it takes to stay in shape. So I don't really have an "off season" I guess, as I like to play year round. But that's just as an athlete, as a student athlete, I pursue a healthy athletic performance by putting my academic success first because if I didn't, for one, I wouldn't be allowed to play, and two, I'd most likely be too stressed to play. I manage all my time wisely and that's the key to having a stellar performance on and off the field.
In my community, I take part in various service activities every week. Every Monday and Wednesday after school, I go to my former elementary school to help tutor young students. Then in Tuesday and Thursday, I go to my former intermediate school where once again I tutor. Then every Wednesday evening, I volunteer at the local neighborhood center and help with the food pantry service they provide. I'm also in several community service- based clubs so I'll do various activities for them as well. I'm not going to lie, when I first started volunteering, I just did it in hopes that it would look good. However, I've really become beyond passionate about and that's why I do it so frequently. Helping others in need really allows me to look at how fortunate I truly am. It's a very humbling opportunity for me, and as a teenager being surrounding by kids with so much, it helps me realize that I don't need expensive stuff to be happy, as your life isn't based on what you wear, it's based on who you are. Not only that, but meeting some of the greatest people and having them impact my lives more than anyone ever could outside of these activities. I truly do enjoy it, and over the past 6 months, I've already accumulated over 80 hours of volunteering while managing to maintain a 4.0 GPA, adjusting to my first year of high school, and playing soccer during the fall sports season.
